Day at the park

Well we got out for a bit this afternoon. The heat held off and we headed for the park. Madison wore herself out.

Happy Fathers Day

Though we laid low for Fathers Day today, it was special just the same. Another nap with Maddy on my chest. Kristin & I took the family for a walk to the park where James made more friends. Then James wanted to run through the sprinkler once we got home, as only James can!

Parks and the zoo.

This week has been fun and and adventerous.  We have been going to different parks.  Madison doesn't go down the slide with me yet, but I show her how.  We also went to the zoo this week too with my cousins and my little sister.  I think we are going to go to the zoo again this Sunday!

Big Brother Boot Camp

It appears that James, who turns 15 months on May 18th, has stepped into the "big brother" roll fairly well.  He is incredibly curious of this new little bundle that Kristin and I have brought home. He is full of love and kisses for her and is very protective and concerned when she cries.  James is SO full of energy, he never walks anywhere...run run run. So our new sign language word this week for James is "gentle".  Of course teaching James that sitting on Madison is not required to kiss and love her will get better as the days pass, we hope.

Welcome Madison

Well she made her entrance in due fashion. April 24th 2008, 2 weeks earlier than we all thought, Miss Madison Renae Lyon came into our life on her terms.  Kristin had text messaged me from upstairs shortly after 10pm that night. To say that my heart jumped a bit when I rounded the corner to our bedroom and found Kristin in her classic "She's in labor" pose is an understatment. I immediately went into my primal Geico insurance caveman mode, foraging for food and sticks, and making all the proper phone calls and assembling the team to bring Madison into this world. We were scheduled to go to University Hospital for this event, but Madison was on her own timeline. When Julie our midwife arrived and uttered oh oh, I piled my sticks on the floor and started striking my flint together to get the fire going for the water. We journeyed down the flight of stairs. Between contractions, Julie our midwifes coaching and water breaking, we finally were able to get Kristin into the car (which had been conveniently pulled up to the front porch) 45 minutes later. Our midwife informed me that going to University Hospital may not be our best option, which was going to be a 25 minute drive. As Julie and I talked about options, we were interupted by Kristins one word directive...SWEDISH! Swedish Hospital was 5 blocks from the house, and off we went. Saving you all the great details, upon pulling up to the emergency enterance at Swedish Hospital, the clock started and 24 minutes later a 5lb 1.26oz blessing was brought into our life.
